Participants will gain an introductory understanding to the work of Dr Jan Van Dijk, an expert in support of children who are deaf blind. Participants will consider the bene t of shared sensory and play experiences as foundation for understanding and relating with children with developmental delays in an art therapy setting, and consider its impact on their own professional settings. Participants will comprehend the need for shared sensory experiences when working with children who are pre-symbolic thinkers in order to establish communication, according to art therapy case examples and research by Dr Van Dijk.
